But, what do the air conditioning compressors actually do and how do they work? The A/C Compressor is the hub of any cooling air system.
Any air conditioner employs an A/C compressor to activate pressure alterations between two compartments in the device to dynamically compact and propel a refrigerant gas. This refrigerant is then sent into a cooled compartment called the "evaporator coil." It is here where low pressure prompts the refrigerant to evaporate into a steam, bringing the heat with it.
In the condenser, which is the other compartment, the refrigerated vapor is squeezed and driven through another heat exchange coil, condensing it into a liquid, and rejecting the heat previously absorbed from the cooled space.
After all of this occurs you have an abundance of cold air for cooling down a sweltering room or freezing next week's steak.
Still curious about A/C compressors? Go to the How it Works page which simplistically breaks down how an air conditioner compressor functions step by step.
